Another character from the ElkChild project ( [link] )

this is Po!

a lot of Naga interpretations center on their serpentlike qualities, but the strain of Naga in this particular story are a bit more mammalian in nature. The prehensile'tail' still comprises most of the body, and is the primary locomotion in 'walking', swimming, and sitting, as it were, so it's long and very muscular, capable of easily supporting the weight of the rest of the body and making the entire creature quite agile for its size and weight.

The lower legs have feet that are more like ape hands, so these Naga are well equipped to wield multiple weapons or shields in a military setting, but more generally are excellent climbers and can multitask with little difficulty. (Po here tends orchard pretty well)

this is my first attempt at this character, and a few color and line issues aside, i think i'm pretty happy with how she looks. The different body and proportions are kinda fun to draw...and the ability to rear back and use the legs as an additional set of arms promises to be pretty fun too ^^;

meh...it is what it is. back to work.

Very nice. Interesting take on the nagas. I'd imagine the skin more scaly then amphipias looking. Anyways, the art and colors are very smooth. Great job.

That's a very neat creature!

We got us plenty of youth. What we need is a Fountain of Smart.

In many myths and legends, Naga are creatures with both human and snake features. So they generally look more snakelike, but they're kind of like the snake version of the Minotaur.

thanks! glad you like! :)

w00t! glad you dig tha Po!

i like this character because her entire race is supposed to be cruel, warlike creatures, and the main characters are on a quest to destroy the Naga....but Po just runs an orchard and turns out to be a smart, friendly type who feels pretty blehhh about war and conquest. Bet she could slap someone silly with that tail, though.

i think i agree with you...something is missing....i will figure out what that is. ^^;

thanks! i should delve into some prehistoric biology and research organisms that have reptilian characteristics but qualify as warm-blooded mammals....i think the term is therapsids (sp?) i'm no scientist, but i wonder what sort of physical properties like skin such creatures would have. Because the amphibious look seems a little frail, but all-out reptilian scaly look might look overworked.

agh, i'm rambling. thanks for the thoughtful comment! :)

Ah~
What if you had the tail wraped around a peach tree? (Assumeing thats a peach)
The very idea of Po seems very cool. Much like my character Aiden whom is a vampire that refuses to go to war with humans (I have yet to get the story totaly down)
Yeee~ I cant waaaiittt~
