some time ago i posted some concepts from a pet project i called ElkChild, which i'd love to do more of once i have the time and space (some ideas never really go away). I always envisioned the story itself as a sort of tribute to The Dark Crystal or the wonderful worlds of a Don Bluth animation.
In essence, the story and world focuses on three tribes, the Wolf, Elk, and Snake (personified as Naga), and a whole mess of dark prophecy, enslavement, genocide, and zingy one-liners. Or something.
Anyway, this is Czyd (pronounced "Zid") who, along with her brother Czax, forms a pair of naga berserker twins who simultaneously provide a good chunk of the story's comic relief and represent the worst the Naga tribes have to offer. (Hope to have a pic of Czax up soon) Czyd's the smarter of the two, which isn't saying a lot. Most of their battle scars are from constant bickering and bloodshed between the two.
Where most of their tribe is concerned with prophetic ascendancy and politics, Czyd and Czax were bred for war and beating or otherwise slashing the living hell out of smaller beings, which they're more than proud to do as chief executioners to the naga military command. Czyd may not be able to spell or solve complex riddles, but being bigger and meaner than most anyone else with a punch that could stop a Mack truck means not having to bother too often with "thinking".
Like most Naga, the berserks' locomotion is a combination of hind legs and tail motion, making them excellent swimmers and hard chargers in combat. Their opposable toes also mean they can wield multiple weapons (or necks) with some efficiency as well. However, in the case of berserks like Czyd and Czax, with greater size there's greater comfort in walking on all fours, lending credence to the assumption that, unlike their more refined kin, they're less removed from their feral ancestors.
